Rental & Dockage Policy

Welcome to the Lake! By booking with us, you agree to the following terms designed for a safe and efficient "Good Day" on the water.

1. Digital Check-In & Arrival

  • The 10-Minute Arrival: Skip the lines by completing your digital waiver and ID upload on our app before you arrive. This allows for a quick 10-minute check-in.

  • Captain’s Experience: We do not provide in-person driving lessons. By renting, you certify that you are an experienced and confident captain capable of safely navigating Houghton Lake.

2. Reservations & Cancellations

  • Payments: A 30% deposit secures your spot, with the final balance collected 3 days before arrival.

  • The 10-Day Window: Deposits are refundable (minus a 5% processing fee) if canceled at least 10 days before the Rental starts. Within 10 days, the deposit is non-refundable regardless of the reason, including illness or personal conflicts.

3. Dock & PWC Slip Rentals

  • Times: Check-in is Noon and Check-out is 10:00 AM. We will text you if your slip is ready early.

  • Bumper Requirements: You must use at least 4 bumpers and proper lines. If a boat is docked without them, the Marina will install them and charge the renter to protect our docks and your vessel.

4. Pets & Equipment

  • The 2-Dog Limit: We allow a maximum of 2 dogs on our three designated pet-friendly pontoons and in our vacation rentals. Pets are strictly prohibited on kayaks.

  • Cleaning: No extra pet fees are charged, but we ask that you return all units in clean condition to avoid detailing fees.

5. Fuel, Deposit & Damages

  • Damage Hold: A $500 pre-authorization hold is required for all motorized rentals. Standard charges include $300 for aluminum prop damage and a $155/hr service fee for repair coordination.

  • Fuel: You are responsible for fuel used, charged at the current gas dock rate upon return.

  • Under the Influence: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone we believe to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

  • Early Returns: There are no refunds for early returns.

6. Weather & Rescheduling

  • Criteria: We use weather.gov the morning of the rental to make determinations. Rescheduling is only permitted for active Thunderstorm/Tornado Warnings 70% Chance or Higher; or, Wind Advisories (25mph+).

  • Rain Delays: We do not cancel for light rain or gray skies. If the radar shows weather clearing, we will implement a "rain delay" and pro-rate your rental for the usable hours. Houghton Lake mornings can be cloudy and hazy to start and turn into warm, clear sky days by 11 am.

  • Rebooking: Approved weather reschedules receive a credit valid for 1 year

  • Multi-day rentals do not qualify for weather-related refunds.
